Getting what they paid for

SPORTING GOODS

In its apparently never-ending attempt to make its premier event as meretricious as possible, the National Football League secured one Christina Aguilera to sing the nation's anthem at yesterday's Super Bowl®.

The results were about as one would expect.

Cripes. Give me the freakin' microphone: I'll take care of the duty, and it won't take me three minutes to do it, either.

ha ha. i wasn't even paying attention but at some point during the song said "wait, did she just make up a line?"

i was still reeling from the fact that we had god bless america sung before the anthem. Oh well, at least it's not the MLB who would have them sing that during the 2 minute warning, right as the crucial drive was happening

I thought it was America the Beautiful, not God Bless America. I think that's right because I immediately became afraid that MLB will have to figure out a way to incorporate that too. I'm guessing during the first pitching change....
