MANIFESTO
I can't help thinking that Mitt Romney's latest tax return
apologia is comparable to the saga of the infamous Watergate tapes.
I.e., first, they were never going to be shared, then a transcript of the tapes was finally submitted, and then the tapes were finally allowed to be heard by all.
It seems to me that we're in the second phase when it comes to Mittens' disclosure of his tax returns. That is, he's looked them over and let us "see" their contents. And the contents indicate that
he never paid less than a 13% tax rate in the last decade.
Like the release of the transcripts of the tapes nearly forty years ago, this disclosure will only whet the public's appetite for more information, and a resolution of the release of the actual return seems inevitable.
