video iPod

Universal Remote

Does anybody else think that the biggest part of Apple's introduction of the video iPod is the video on demand download service? I'm not exactly sure how it'll be, but the simple fact that I can download last night's "Lost" episode in case my DVR failed to record it is revolutionary. If more networks make content available, I think video on demand will be the next big thing in television. I've heard of some false starts in the past, but Apple, again, just leapfrogged the entire industry.

it's cool no doubt. but you still have to download the content to your pc, then sync it with the ipod. the future is wireless video on demand. verisign is the leader in delivering mobile content (ringtones, music). most of their business comes from europe but they are poised to enter the US (US lags in mobile tech). if the boom in mobile video materializes it would create a financial windfall for them.

Yeah, but you can also just download it to the computer and watch it. Shouldn't be too much of a stretch to download straight to a DVR, which is nothing more than a hard drive attached to a TV, or for the tech saavy, hook up the computer to the TV and watch it on the big screen.

Have you seen the new G5? It comes with a remote and a new interface that allows you to easily find songs/videos from across the room. Pretty awesome.
